Change Your Habit From Inside Out – and Outside In

THE SIMPLE WAY TO BEGIN RE-SHAPING YOUR LIFE

Many People want to change or reshape their Life but do not know where to start.  I say re-shape as most people like many aspects of life and do not wish to ditch it completely but are dissatisfied with some aspects.  In another blog, I mentioned why habit change is difficult using will-power but this deals with how to change or develop a habit.  This applies as much to such mental habits as a positive outlook as well as physical habits.

WHAT TO DO?

Train your brain to succeed at making small adjustments first.

  1. Identifying a specific outcome, you desire
  2. Identify the easy-win behaviours—“tiny habits”—that will put you on the path to that goal so designing out the need to feel highly motivated to get a task done. (e.g. do 1 push)
  3. Finally, something that you already do as a habit as a trigger and graft the new habit onto it up (e.g., do 1 push up after using the bathroom).
  4. GIVE YOUR SELF A PAT ON THE BACK.

WHY?

You’re rewriting your identity as someone who succeeds.”

HOW IT WORKS  – BRAIN TRAINING

Small daily seemingly insignificant improvements when done consistently over time lead to stunning results.

The brain changes as a result of behavior/action.  Cognitive restructuring due to neuroplasticity.

The new behaviors become automatic – automaticity.  This means that behaviors become default behavior – habit.
